Dragon Sourcing is a highly reputed name in the procurement industry. It has collaborated with innumerable clients to fulfil their procurement needs, both from established as well as emerging markets. Here is a detailed case study that shows how we identified two competitive suppliers from Turkey for dry and wet wipes. The key deliverables of this project included:

  • Supplier database
  • RFI/RFQ templates
  • RFI-RFQ analysis report
  • Supplier profiles and ranking

In the first stage, Dragon Sourcing analysed the products and requirements of the client. We collaborated with them to understand the key criteria they were looking for in the supplier that including specs, volumes, materials, production technology, quality testing, certificates, etc. We worked with the client for choosing the right pre-screening selection criteria. Next, Dragon Sourcing conducted a supply market analysis by researching B2B Websites, Fair catalogues, DS databases, magazines, Chamber of Commerce, and networks, to find potential suppliers.

After doing the market analysis, Dragon Sourcing conducted a telephonic pre-screening, based on the selected criteria which were agreed upon by discussion with the client. It included the capability to make the product, minimum company size, quality certifications, and interest in participating. 51 potential suppliers were identified and called. Based on the response we eliminated those suppliers who were not able to meet the minimum key criteria and choose 24 suppliers.

The next step was to develop the RFI document. By discussing with our clients, we prepared an RFI-RFQ document, along with a scorecard. The scorecard was designed to pre-qualify the competitiveness and capabilities of the suppliers, including background, financials, client references and product experience, quality certification & processes, social responsibility, manufacturing/technology capability, and R&D capability.

The RFI was distributed to 24 suppliers who passed pre-screening in the previous step and who signed the NDA with telephone follow-up to get maximum participation. After the suppliers responded to the RFI, Dragon Sourcing worked closely with the client to develop a balanced scorecard for evaluating the suppliers based on the RFI response. The RFI responses were further analysed, and the suppliers were objectively ranked by their capabilities along with recommendations for those that need to be audited.

2 suppliers were recommended. At the end of the project, all the key management and production management charts were given to the client.
