This case study details the numerous processes taken by Dragon Sourcing to assist a global corporation in sourcing plastic injection components from a reputable Chinese vendor. The following were the primary deliverables required from us in this project:

  • Supplier database
  • NDA signed
  • Scorecard
  • Supplier profiles
  • Recommended suppliers

Dragon Sourcing spoke with the client in depth to determine their needs, which included supplier qualification, manufacturing location, the technology employed, task scope, etc. Once we understood the need, we analyzed the supplier market utilizing the DS database, chamber of commerce information, network, references, fair catalog, and more. Through our examination of the supply market, we identified 71 potential suppliers with whom we conducted a telephone interview based on predetermined criteria. 23 vendors passed the pre-screening round. However, only 10 vendors we shortlisted were willing to sign the NDA.

Upon receiving approval from our customer, we put out 10 RFIs and received responses from 8 vendors. After receiving the RFQs from eight vendors, we compared them to the client-specified minimal criteria (RFI, price, production capabilities, and location) and assigned weighting points to each scorecard. Based on the scores of each vendor on the scorecard, we recommended four vendors for the next round.
